వలస కార్మికుడిని కొట్టి చంపిన పోలీసులు

అసలే కష్టాల్లో ఉన్న వలస కూలీలపై పోలీసుల దుర్మార్గాలు అంతులేకుండా ఉన్నాయి. గుజరాత్ లోని సూరత్ లో ఓ వలస కార్మికుడిని గురువారం సాయంత్రం పోలీసులు కొట్టి చంపారు. 30 ఏళ్ళ సత్య స్వైన్ ది ఒడిశా రాష్ట్రం గంజా‍ం జిల్లాలోని భంజనగర్ సమీపంలోని కుల్లాడ గ్రామం. బతుకుదెరువు వెతుక్కుంటూ సూరత్ కు వచ్చి 2 సంవత్సరాలుగా ఇక్కడే పని చేస్తున్నాడు. లాక్ డౌన్ కారణంగా పని కోల్పోయి అష్టకష్టాలు పడుతూ ఎలా గైనా స్వంత ఊరు వెళ్దామని నిర్ణయించుకున్నాడు. రైలు లో వెళ్ళడం కోసం స్థానిక పోలీసు స్టేషన్ లో రిజిస్ట్రేషన్ చేసుకోవాలి. అందువల్ల సత్య తన తోటి కార్మికులతో కలిసి పోలీసు స్టేషన్ వెళ్ళాడు. అక్కడ అప్పటికే చాలా మంది కార్మికులున్నారు. వీళ్ళందరినీ తరిమికొట్టాలనుకున్న‌ పోలీసులు హటాత్తుగా కార్మికులపై లాఠీచార్జ్ మొదలుపెట్టారు. చెదరగొట్టడమే కాక వెంట్పడి మరీ కొట్టారు. కార్మికులు వాళ్ళ ఇళ్ళలోకి పారి పోయినా సరే ఇళ్ళలోకి దూరి కొట్టారు. సత్యతో పాటు అనేక మంది కార్మికులు అంజని ఇండస్ట్రీస్ ఎస్టేట్ ప్రాంతంలో ఉంటున్నారు. కార్మికుల వెంటపడి వీళ్ళ ప్లాట్ లోకి దూసుకొచ్చిన పోలీసులు దారుణంగా కొట్టారు. ఆ దెబ్బలకు సత్య అక్కడే పడి పోయాడు.

"సుమారు 5-10 మంది పోలీసులుమమ్ములను వెంబడించి, లాక్ చేసిన గేటును పగలగొట్టి, ఇంట్లోకి ప్రవేశించి, విచక్షణారహితంగా దారుణంగా కొట్టారు మరియు మమ్మల్ని అమ్రోలి పోలీస్ స్టేషన్కు తీసుకువెళ్లారు" అని సత్య‌ రూమ్మేట్ వివరించాడు. పోలీసులు కనికరం లేకుండా, దుర్మార్గంగా కొట్ట‌డం వలన తీవ్రగాయాల పాలైన వలస కార్మికులను అంబులెన్స్ లో ఆస్పత్రికి తీసుకెళ్తుండగానే సత్య ప్రాణాలు విడిచాడు. సత్యకు భార్య, ఐదేళ్ల మానసిక వికలాంగ కుమారుడు ఉన్నారు. ʹʹనా భర్త మమ్ములను పోషించడం కోసం సూరత్ వెళ్ళాడు. ఇప్పుడు మా జీవితం ఏంగావాలి? నా భర్తను చంపిన వారిని కఠినంగా శిక్షించాలిʹʹ అని సత్య భార్య డిమాండ్ చేసింది.
