సలాం.. షరీఫ్‌ చాచా !

అంతిమయాత్ర రోజున నలుగురు వ్యక్తులు ఉండాలంటారు. మరి నా అంటూ లేనివారికి నేనున్నానంటున్నారు.. ఫైజాబాద్‌కు చెందిన మహ్మమ్మద్ షరీఫ్‌. గత 25 ఏళ్లలో కనీసం 25వేల అనాథ శవాలకు అంతిమ_సంస్కారాలు చేయించారు. ఇందులో హిందూ, ముస్లిం అన్న తేడాను చూపరు. కానీ వారి సంప్రదాయాలను పాటించడాన్ని మరిచిపోరు. ఇంతకూ ఆయన ఓ సైకిల్‌ మెకానిక్‌. పూట గడవడమే కష్టం. 27 ఏళ్లలో 25 వేల మంది అభాగ్యులకు దహనసంస్కారాలు నిర్వహించి వారికి మరణంలోనూ గౌరవాన్ని ప్రసాదించారు. అంతటి గొప్ప మనుసున్న చాచాని గుర్తించిన ప్రభుత్వం పద్మశ్రీతో సత్కరించింది. ఆయన నిస్వార్థసేవకు సముచిత గౌరవం కల్పించింది.

28 ఏళ్ల క్రితం బాబ్రీ మసీదు కూల్చివేత తర్వాత చెలరేగిన మత_ఘర్షణల్లో ఆయన పెద్ద కొడుకు దుర్మరణం పాలయ్యాడు. కానీ, ఆ విషయం నెల తర్వాత గానీ కుటుంబ సభ్యులకు తెలియరాలేదు. అప్పటికే పూర్తిగా కుళ్లిపోయి అనాథలా తన కుమారుని శవం రైలు పట్టాలపై పడి ఉండడాన్ని చూసి షరీఫ్‌ చలించిపోయారు. తన కన్న కొడుకుకి పట్టిన గతి ఇంకెవరికీ రాకూడదని అప్పుడే సంకల్పం చేశారు. ఎక్కడ గుర్తు తెలియని మృతదేహాలు కనిపించినా సంప్రదాయబద్ధంగా దహన_సంస్కారాలు నిర్వహించాలని నిర్ణయించుకున్నారు. కులం, మతంతో సంబంధం లేకుండా అభాగ్యుల శవాలకు అంత్యక్రియలు నిర్వహించడమే కర్తవ్యంగా ముందుకు సాగుతున్నారు. ఇప్పటి వరకు 25వేల అనాధ శవాలకు దహన సంస్కారాలు నిర్వహించారు. నిత్యం ఆస్పత్రులు, పోలీస్‌స్టేషన్లు, రైల్వేస్టేషన్లు, మార్చురీలను షరీఫ్‌ సంప్రదిస్తారు. ఓ వ్యక్తి చనిపోయిన తర్వాత 72 గంటల్లో ఎవరూ శవాన్ని తీసుకోవడానికి రాకపోతే తనకు అప్పగించాలని చెబుతారు. చాచా చేస్తున్న సేవను గుర్తించిన వారు ఆయనకు సహకరిస్తున్నారు. హిందూ, ముస్లింతో నాకు సంబంధం లేదు.. నా దృష్టిలో అందరూ_మనుషులే అంటారు చాచా. ఆయన సేవల్ని గుర్తించి బాలీవుడ్‌ ప్రఖ్యాత నటుడు అమీర్ ఖాన్ 2012లో తన సత్యమేవ జయతే కార్యక్రమానికి పిలిచి చాచాని ప్రపంచానికి పరిచయం చేశారు. తాను చేస్తున్న మెకానిక్‌ పనితో ఇళ్లు గడవడమే కష్టంగా ఉన్నా.. తన సేవకు మాత్రం ఏనాడూ స్వస్తి పలకలేదు. తాను సంపాదించే డబ్బులతో పాటు ఇరుగుపొరుగు ఇచ్చే స్వల్ప విరాళాలతో తన నిస్వార్ధ సేవకు కొనసాగిస్తున్న షరీఫ్‌ చాచాకు సలాం చెప్పాల్సిందే..!
