భారత్‌కు అప్పీలును తిరస్కరించిన బ్రిటన్

భారతదేశం పరారీలో ఉన్నట్లు ప్రకటించిన లిక్కర్ వ్యాపారి విజయ్ మాల్యాకు బ్రిటన్‌లో మరోసారి ఎదురుదెబ్బ తగిలింది. మోసం, కింగ్‌ఫిషర్ ఎయిర్‌లైన్స్ రుణాల ఎగవేతకు సంబంధించి మనీ లాండరింగ్ ఆరోపణలపై భారతదేశానికి తనను అప్పగించవద్దని కోరుతూ అప్పీలు చేయటానికి సమర్పించిన దరఖాస్తును బ్రిటన్ సుప్రీంకోర్టు గురువారం తిరస్కరించింది. మాల్యాను భారతదేశానికి అప్పగించాలంటూ వెస్ట్‌ మినిస్టర్ మెజిస్ట్రేట్ కోర్టు 2018 సెప్టెంబర్‌లో ఇచ్చిన ఆదేశాలను బ్రిటన్ హోంమంత్రి ఆమోదించారు. మెజిస్ట్రేట్ కోర్టు ఆదేశాలను సవాల్ చేస్తూ మాల్యా హైకోర్టును ఆశ్రయించగా.. హైకోర్టు ఆయన అప్పీలును కొట్టివేస్తూ ఏప్రిల్ 20వ తేదీన తీర్పు ఇచ్చింది. హైకోర్టు తీర్పు మీద సుప్రీంకోర్టులో అప్పీలు చేయటానికి విజయ్ మాల్యా దరఖాస్తు చేసుకున్నారు.

ఈ అప్పీలుకు సంబంధించి భారత ప్రభుత్వ స్పందనను ఈ వారం ఆరంభంలో కోర్టుకు సమర్పించారు. ఈ నేపథ్యంలో సుప్రీంకోర్టు తాజాగా ఆయన దరఖాస్తును తిరస్కరించింది. దీంతో బ్రిటన్‌లో మాల్యాకు అన్ని దారులూ మూసుకుపోయాయి. ఇప్పుడు భారత్‌కు అప్పగించే నిర్ణయం తిరిగి హోంమంత్రి ప్రీతి పటేల్ ముందుకు వెళ్తుంది. సుప్రీం ఆదేశాలు వెలువడిన 28 రోజుల్లోగా మాల్యాను భారత్‌కు అప్పగించే ప్రక్రియను ప్రారంభించాల్సి ఉంటుంది. విజయ్ మాల్యా 2016 మార్చిలో భారతదేశం వదిలి బ్రిటన్ వెళ్లారు. తన కింగ్‌ఫిషర్ కంపెనీ కోసం బ్యాంకుల నుంచి రుణాలు తీసుకుని తిరిగి చెల్లించకుండా విదేశాలకు వెళ్లారని ఆయన మీద ఆరోపణలు ఉన్నాయి.

ఆ రుణాల మొత్తం రూ.10,000 కోట్ల వరకూ ఉంటాయని చెప్తున్నారు. అప్పులతో సంస్థ కుప్పకూలటంతో కింగ్‌ఫిషర్ ఎయిర్‌లైన్స్‌ను మూసివేశారు. స్కాట్లండ్ యార్డ్ పోలీసులు 2017 ఏప్రిల్‌లో మాల్యా అప్పగింతకు వారెంట్ జారీ చేసింది. అప్పటి నుంచి ఆయన 65 లక్షల పౌండ్ల పూచీకత్తుతో బెయిల్ మీద ఉన్నారు.

Liquor trader Vijay Mallya has once again faced another setback in Britain after India announced he was on the run. The UK Supreme Court on Thursday rejected an application to appeal against India's allegations of fraud and money laundering by Kingfisher Airlines. Britain's Home Minister has approved the Westminster Magistrate's Court's September 2018 order to extradite Mallya to India. Mallya approached the High Court challenging the orders of the Magistrate's Court. Vijay Mallya has filed an appeal in the Supreme Court over the High Court's ruling.

The Indian government's response to the appeal was submitted to the court earlier this week. Against this backdrop, the Supreme Court has recently rejected his application. Mallya closed all lanes in Britain. Home Minister Preeti Patel will now go back to India. The process of extraditing Mallya to India should begin within 28 days of the Supreme orders being issued. Vijay Mallya left India in March 2016 and moved to Britain. He is accused of borrowing money from banks for his Kingfisher company and going abroad without repayment.

The total amount of those loans is around Rs 10,000 crore. Kingfisher Airlines was shut down after the company collapsed due to debt. Scotland Yard Police issued a warrant for Mallya's extradition in April 2017. Since then, he has been on bail with a pledge of 65 million pounds.
