వెయ్యి అప్పు తీసుకున్నందుకు పదేళ్లుగా వెట్టిచాకిరి

ఈ ఫోటోలో నిలబడ్డవాళ్ళ కాళ్ళపై పడి మొక్కుతున్న ఆ వృద్దుని పేరు కాశీ. వెట్టి కార్మికుడు... అంటే ప్రజాస్వామ్య భారతంలో భానిస. తమిళనాడు కాంచీపురం జిల్లా కొన్నెరకుప్పం గ్రామంలో ఓ కట్టెల మిల్లులో పదేళ్ళుగా వెట్టి చేస్తున్న భానిస. అది కూడా పదేళ్ళ కింద ఆయన చేసిన వేయి రూపాయల అప్పు కోసం..!

పదేళ్ళ కింద నటరాజన్ అనే వ్యక్తి దగ్గర కాశీ వేయి రూపాయలు అప్పు చేశాడు. అది తీర్చడం కోసం ఆ నటరాజ్ తన బందువుల కట్టెల కోత కంపనీలో పనికి చేర్చాడు. అప్పటి నుండి కాశీ ఎలాంటి జీతం లేకుండా పని చేస్తూనే ఉన్నాడు..ఆయన తీసుకున్న వేయి రూపాయలు వడ్డీల వ‌డ్డీలు పెరుగుతూనే ఉన్నాయి. అప్పు మాత్రం తీరలేదు. తనను వదిలేయమని ఎన్నో సార్లు యజమానుల కాళ్ళా వేళ్ళా పడ్డా వాళ్ళు కనికరించలేదు. ఇది ఒక్క కాశీ కథే కాదు. ఇట్లా రెండు చోట్ల కట్టెల మిల్లులలో 42 మంది వెట్టి కార్మికులు పని చేస్తున్నారు. అందులో 16 మంది చిన్న పిల్లలు. కొద్దిగా అప్పు ఇచ్చి చక్రవడ్డీలు..భూ చక్ర వడ్డీలతో వాళ్ళను సంకేళ్ళలో బంధించారు యజమానులు. వాళ్ళ పిల్లలను బడికి పంపనివ్వరు. సరైన తిండి ఉండదు. కట్టుకునేందుకు సరైన బట్ట ఉండదు. దుర్బరమైన జీవితాలు వాళ్ళవి. వాళ్ళ శ్రమతో యజమానులు లక్షలు సంపాదిస్తున్నారు.

ఇలా భానిస బతుకులు ఈడుస్తున్నవాళ్ళ సమాచారం తెలిసిన కాంచీపురం,రాణిపేట సబ్ కలెక్టర్లు రెవెన్యూ సిబ్బందితో ఏక కాలంలో రెండు చోట్ల దాడులు నిర్వహించి ఆ కార్మీకులకు విముక్తి కలిగించారు. ఈ సందర్భంగా 60 ఏళ్ళ కాశీ అనే వృద్ధుడు తన ఆనందాన్ని తట్టుకోలేక తనకు విముక్తి కలిగించిన అధికారుల కాళపై బడి ధన్యవాదాలు చెబుతున్న దృశ్యం ఇది.

ఇది ఒక్క తమిళనాడుకు సంబంధిచిన విషయమే కాదు అన్ని రాష్ట్రాల్లో చట్టాలను కాలరాసి లక్షలమందిని వెట్టి భానిసలుగా మారుస్తున్నారు. తెలంగాణలో ఇటుక బట్టీల్లో ఒడిశా కార్మికులను భానిసలుమార్చి వాళ్ళ శ్రమ దోపిడి చేస్తూ లక్షలు సంపాదిస్తున్నారు.
