'జీ న్యూస్'కు సుప్రీమ్ కోర్ట్ అక్షింతలు

జీ న్యూస్ సంపాదకులు సుధీర్ చౌదరి, సమీర్ అహ్లువాలియాను వసూళ్ల ఆరోపణలపై సుప్రీంకోర్టు బుధవారం వారిని తీవ్రంగా మందలించింది. వీరికి షరతులతో కూడిన బెయిల్ ఇచ్చిన కోర్టు మరోసారి ఇది పునరావృతమైతే జైలుకు పంపిస్తామని హెచ్చరించింది. ప్రస్తుతం బెయిల్‌పై ఉన్న ఇద్దరు సంపాదకులు పారిశ్రామికవేత్త నవీన్ జిందాల్ చేత ఆరోపణలు ఎదుర్కొంటున్నారు. బెయిల్ పొందటానికి షరతుగా పోలీసులకు ఇచ్చిన సమ్మతిని ఈ నిందితులు ఉపసంహరించుకుంటే జైలుకు తిరిగి రావలసి ఉంటుందని జస్టిస్ ఠాకూర్ ఎడిటర్స్ న్యాయవాదికి చెప్పారు. దర్యాప్తు సంస్థలతో పూర్తి సహకారం అందిస్తామని హామీ ఇచ్చిన తర్వాతే ఇద్దరు సంపాదకులకు బెయిల్ లభించిందని, వారి సమ్మతిని ఉపసంహరించుకోవాలన్న కోరికపై పోలీసులు కూడా అభ్యంతరాలు వ్యక్తం చేశారు.

కాగా, శుక్రవారం కేసును మళ్ళీ వినడానికి ముందే రెండు రోజుల్లోపు తమ ప్రత్యుత్తరాలను సమర్పించాలని సుప్రీం కోర్టు నిందితులను ఆదేశించింది. సంస్థకు వ్యతిరేకంగా ప్రతికూల వార్తలను ప్రసారం చేయకుండా బదులుగా రూ .100 కోట్లు డిమాండ్ చేసినట్లు జిందాల్ సంస్థ ఫిర్యాదు చేయడంతో చౌదరి మరియు అహ్లువాలియాను 2012 లో అరెస్టు చేశారు. చౌదరి, అహ్లువాలియా తరువాత బెయిల్‌పై విడుదలయ్యారు. నరేంద్ర మోడీ ప్రభుత్వం అధికారంలోకి వచ్చిన తరువాత చౌదరికి ఎక్స్ కేటగిరీ వ్యక్తిగత భద్రత కల్పించారు. ఛానెల్ ఆరోపణలను ఖండించినప్పటికీ, జీ తరచుగా కుంకుమ పార్టీ యొక్క మౌత్ పీస్ గా భావించబడుతుంది.

India’s Supreme Court on Wednesday warned Zee News editors, Sudhir Chaudhary and Samir Ahluwalia, directing them to follow the procedure or else they will be sent back to jail once again. Both editors, currently out on bail, are facing charges of extortion by industrialist, Naveen Jindal. Justice Thakur told the editors’ lawyer that the accused journalists will have to return to jail if they withdrew their consent given to Delhi Police as condition to obtain bail. Delhi Police too raised objections on the editors’ desire to withdraw their consent adding that the two editors were given bail only after they had assured of full cooperation with the investigating agencies. 

The apex court has directed both the accused to submit their replies within two days before it hears the case again on Friday. Chaudhary and Ahluwalia were arrested in 2012 after a complaint by Jindal’s firm that they had demanded Rs 100 crore in lieu of not airing adverse news against the firm. Chaudhary and Ahluwalia were released on bail later. Chaudhary was provided with X category personal security after the Narendra Modi government came to power. Zee is often perceived as a mouthpiece of the saffron party, even though the channel has denied the allegations.
