అబ్దుల్ భాయ్.. కరోనా మృతుల ఏకైక ఆప్తుడు !

అబ్దుల్ భాయ్ సుమారు 30 ఏళ్లుగా అనాథ మృతదేహాలకు తన కొంతమంది స్నేహితులతో కలిసి కులమతాలకతీతంగా అంత్యక్రియలు జరిపిస్తున్నారు. కేవలం అనాథ శవాలనే కాకుండా తమవారు కండ్ల ముందే చనిపోయినా అంత్యక్రియలు జరిపించలేని దీనావస్థలో ఉన్న పెదాలు, యాచకులు తదితర అంతిమ వీడ్కోలుకు నోచుకోని వారి మృతదేహాలకు "అబ్దుల్ భాయ్" ఒక్కడే ఆప్తుడిలా అన్నీ తానై చనిపోయిన వారి మతాచారాల ప్రకారం అంత్యక్రియలు చేసి వారి ఆత్మలకు శాంతి కలిగిస్తున్నాడు.

మూడు దశాబ్దాలుగా నిరంతరాయంగా కొనసాగుతున్న ఈ కార్యక్రమానికి ఇప్పుడు కరోనా మృతులు కూడా తోడయ్యారు. మహమ్మారి కారణంగా ఈమధ్యే నలుగురు సూరత్ వాసులు చనిపోగా, వారి అంత్యక్రియలు ఎలా జరిపించాలా అనే సంధిగ్ధత నెలకొంది. అప్పుడే కరోనా మృతులకు వైద్యం చేసిన డాక్టర్లకు 'అబ్దుల్' చేస్తున్న సేవల గురించి తెలిసి, అతన్ని సంప్రదించారు. అబ్దుల్ వెంటనే కరోనా మృతులకు అంత్యక్రియలు చేయడానికి ఒప్పుకున్నాడు. దీంతో కరోనాతో చనిపోయిన ఆ నలుగురి అంత్యక్రియల బాధ్యతను సూరత్ నగర పాలిక అబ్దుల్ కు అప్పగించి ఊపిరి పీల్చుకుంది.

ఇప్పుడు అబ్దుల్ భాయ్ సెల్ నెంబర్ సూరత్ లోని ప్రతి హాస్పిటల్లో ఉంది. దీనిపై అబ్దుల్ భాయ్ ను బీబీసీ ప్రశ్నించగా ఎవరూ అనాథలా చనిపోకూడదనే ఉద్దేశంతోనే తాను గత 30 సంవత్సరాలుగా ఈ అంత్యక్రియల బాధ్యతను నిర్వర్తిస్తున్నానని, ఇప్పుడు కరోనా మృతుల అంత్యక్రియలు చేస్తున్నందున ఈ మహమ్మారి పూర్తిగా శాంతించే వరకూ ఇంటికి కూడా పోకూడదని నిర్ణయుంచుకొని, తన కార్యాలయంలోనే ఉంటున్నానని అబ్దుల్ తెలిపారు. అబ్దుల్ తాను చేస్తున్నది ఏమంత గొప్ప పని కాదని, సాధారణంగా చెబుతున్నా.. ఇప్పుడు ప్రాణాలను ఫణంగా పెట్టి అతను చేస్తున్న సేవలకు కరోనా మృతుల కుటుంబీకులు ఎల్లకాలం రుణపడి ఉంటారనేది కాదనలేని సత్యం.. ఏదేమైనా 'అబ్దుల్ భాయ్' సేవలకు హృదయపూర్వక సలాం..
