కోవిడ్-19 సంక్షోభం ప్రభావం దేశంలోని ఒక ధనిక దేవాలయంపై పడింది. అదే కేరళలోని శ్రీ అనంత పద్మనాభ స్వామి ఆలయం. ఈ గుడికి వచ్చే భక్తులు ఉత్తర భారతదేశ వ్యాప్తంగా ఉన్నారు. ఇప్పుడు ఈ దేవాలయం ఆర్థిక పరిస్థితి అస్సలు బాగోలేదని అంటున్నారు. సగటున రోజుకు 2 లక్షల రూపాయలు, హుండీ కానుకల రూపంలో మరో లక్ష రూపాయల వరకూ ఆదాయం ఈ గుడికి వచ్చేది. ఇప్పుడు ఆన్‌లైన్‌ విరాళాల రూపంలో రోజూ 10 నుంచి రూ. 20 వేల రూపాయల ఆదాయం మాత్రమే వస్తోంది.

‘‘గుడి కోసం ఉన్న 307 మంది సిబ్బందికి వేతనాలు ఇచ్చేందుకు బ్యాంకు డిపాజిట్లు, ఇతరత్రా డిపాజిట్లపై వచ్చే వడ్డీపై ఆధారపడుతున్నాం. ఆలయ ఖర్చుల కోసమని నా జీతం నుంచి 30 శాతం ఆలయ నిధికే ఇస్తున్నా’’ అని శ్రీ అనంత పద్మనాభస్వామి ఆలయం ఎగ్జిక్యూటివ్ డైరెక్టర్ వి. రతీశన్ బీబీసీతో చెప్పారు. ‘‘భారత్‌లోనే ధనిక దేవాలయాల్లో మాది ఒకటి. ఉత్తరాది రాష్ట్రాల నుంచి మా గుడికి చాలా మంది భక్తులు వస్తారు. రోజూ 5-10 వేల మంది వరకూ దర్శనం చేసుకునేవారు. ఇప్పుడు కరోనావైరస్ కారణంగా అది సున్నాకు పడిపోయింది’’ అని ఆయన వివరించారు.

మార్చి, ఏప్రిల్ నెలలకుగానూ తమకు రూ.4 కోట్ల నుంచి రూ.6 కోట్ల వరకూ ఆదాయంలో నష్టం వచ్చిందని ఆలయ యాజమాన్యం లెక్కగట్టింది. ధనిక దేవాలయ పరిస్థితే ఇలా ఉంటే, మిగతా ఆలయాల పరిస్థితి ఇంకా ఘోరంగా ఉంది. శబరిమలలోని అయ్యప్ప స్వామి గుడి కూడా వీటిలో ఒకటి. ‘‘ఉద్యోగులకు వేతనాలిచ్చే స్థితిలో కూడా మేం లేము. నా నెలవారీ వేతనంలోనూ 25 శాతం కోత పడుతోంది’’ అని ట్రావెన్‌కోర్ దేవస్వోమ్ బోర్డు (టీడీబీ) ఛైర్మన్ ఎన్.వాసు బీబీసీతో చెప్పారు. శబరిమల అయ్యప్ప స్వామి దేవాలయం సహా దాదాపు 1,250 గుళ్ల నిర్వహణను టీడీబీ చూసుకుంటోంది. లాక్‌డౌన్ అమల్లోకి వచ్చినప్పటి నుంచి వీటి ఆదాయాలు సున్నాకు పడిపోయాయి. ‘‘వేతనాలు చెల్లించేందుకు మాకు కనీసం రూ.40 కోట్లు అవసరం. పూజల నిర్వహణకు మరో రూ.10 కోట్లు కావాలి. ఇప్పుడు ఉన్న కొన్ని నిధులతో సర్దుకుంటున్నాం’’ అని ఎన్.వాసు చెప్పారు.

టీడీబీ నిర్వహణలో ఉన్న గుళ్లలో ఒక్క శబరిమల నుంచే రూ.100 కోట్ల ఆదాయం వచ్చేది. మిగతా ఆలయాల నుంచి రూ.100 కోట్ల వరకూ వచ్చేవి. ‘‘గత రెండు నెలల్లో రూ.200 కోట్లు నష్టపోయాం. ఈ లాక్‌డౌన్ ఇంకా ఎంత కాలం కొనసాగుతుందో తెలియదు’’ అని వాసు చెప్పారు. కేరళలోని గురువాయూర్ గుడి కూడా సంపన్న ఆలయాలలో ఒకటి. అయితే, మిగతా ఆలయాలతో పోల్చితే, ఈ ఆలయం పరిస్థితి మెరుగ్గానే ఉంది. గురువయ్యూర్ ఆలయ నిర్వహణ చేసుకోగలుగుతున్నామని ఆ ఆలయానికి సంబంధించిన అధికారి ఒకరు చెప్పారు. కర్ణాటకలోని కోస్తా జిల్లాల్లోని కొల్లూరు మూకాంబికా, కుక్కు సుబ్రమణ్య ఆలయాలకు దక్షిణ భారత రాష్ట్రాలతోపాటు విదేశాల నుంచి కూడా భక్తులు వస్తుంటారు. ‘‘తిరిగి సాధారణ పరిస్థితి నెలకొనేందుకు మాకు ఓ ఏడాది పడుతుంది. మా ఆలయ వార్షిక ఆదాయం రూ.40 కోట్లకు పైనే ఉండేది. నెలవారీ ఖర్చులు రూ.90 లక్షల వరకూ ఉండేవి. గత మూడు నెలలకు శాశ్వత సిబ్బందికి, ఔట్ సోర్సింగ్ సిబ్బందికి వేతనాలు చెల్లించగలిగాం. భక్తులు రోజూ సమర్పించే కానుకలపై అర్చకులు ఆధారపడేవారు. ఇప్పుడు వారి బాగోగులు కూడా మేమే చూస్తున్నాం’’ అని మూకాంబికా ఆలయ ట్రస్టీ డాక్టర్ పీవీ అభిలాష్ బీబీసీతో చెప్పారు.

మూకాంబికా ఆలయానికి తమిళనాడు, కేరళ, ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్‌లతోపాటు శ్రీలంక, జపాన్‌ల నుంచి కూడా భక్తులు వస్తుంటారు. శ్రీలంక ప్రధాని రణిల్ విక్రమసింగ్హె భారత్‌లో పర్యటించినప్పుడు ఈ ఆలయ దర్శనం చేసుకున్నారు. మరోవైపు కుక్కు సుబ్రమణ్య ఆలయానికి గత మూడు నెలల్లో రూ.22.79 కోట్ల నష్టం వచ్చింది. సిబ్బందికి వేతనాలు చెల్లిస్తున్నామని, నష్టం మాత్రం తీవ్రంగా ఉందని ఆలయ అధికారి ఒకరు తెలిపారు. దక్షిణ రాష్ట్రాలతోపాటు మహారాష్ట్ర నుంచి కూడా ఈ ఆలయ దర్శనం చేసుకుంటుంటారు. ఐశ్వర్యరాయ్, సచిన్ తెందుల్కర్ లాంటి ప్రముఖులు కూడా ఈ ఆలయానికి వస్తుంటారు. ‘‘కర్ణాటకలో 34,562 గుళ్లు ఎండోమెంట్ చట్టం కింద నోటిఫై అయ్యాయి. వీటిలో గ్రూప్-ఏ కింద 202 గుళ్లు గ్రూప్-బీ కింద 139 గుళ్లు ఉన్నాయి. ఈ రెండు గ్రూపుల ఆలయాల్లోని అర్చకులకు మేం వేతనాలు చెల్లించగలుగుతున్నాం. గ్రూప్-సీ ఆలయాల అర్చకులకు రూ.48 వేల వార్షిక వేతనం వస్తుంది. వారిలో అవసరం ఉన్నవారికి రూ.1000 విలువ చేసే రేషన్ కిట్లను అందిస్తున్నాం’’ అని కర్ణాటక ముజ్రాయ్ (ఎండోమెంట్) విభాగం కమిషనర్ రోహిణి సింధూరి బీబీసీతో చెప్పారు. కర్ణాటకలో ఈ గుళ్లు నష్టపోయిన మొత్తమే రూ.133.56 కోట్లుగా ఉంది.
