నూతిలో తొమ్మిది శవాలు.. ఉలిక్కిపడ్డ ఓరుగల్లు

వరంగల్ నుంచి నర్సంపేట వెళ్లేదారిలో కాశిబుగ్గ దాటి కాస్త ముందుకు వెళితే ఎడమవైపు ఒక దారి ఉంటుంది. అక్కడ నుంచి లోపలికి వెళితే బోలెడన్ని పరిశ్రమలు, ముఖ్యంగా కోల్డ్ స్టోరేజీలూ, వాటిల్లో పనిచేసే కార్మికులు.. ఇలా ఎంతో హడావుడిగా ఉంటుంది. పరిశ్రమల ప్రాంతం కావడంతో లారీల దెబ్బకు గుంతలు పడ్డ రోడ్డు మీదుగా తిన్నగా వెళ్తే ఎడం వైపున పచ్చటి రంగు వేసి ఉన్న ఒక పెద్ద కోల్డ్ స్టోరేజ్, దాని ఎదురుగా ఒక మట్టి రోడ్డు ఉంటుంది. ఆ దారిలో కాస్త ముందుకు వెళ్లాక కుడివైపున నీలం గేటున్న పెద్ద కాంపౌండ్ అందులో గొడౌన్ రెండు చిన్న గదుల బిల్డింగూ కనిపిస్తాయి. ఏం జరిగినా ఎవరికీ తెలియనంత దూరమూ కాకుండా, అలాగని ఏం జరిగినా తెలిసిపోయేంత దగ్గరా కాకుండా ఇళ్లున్నాయి ఆ గొడౌన్ పక్కన.

వరంగల్ లో ఎండుమిర్చి, పత్తి, వరి ఎగుమతులు, నిల్వ కోసం గోనెసంచుల అవసరం బాగా ఉంటుంది. ఈ నీలం గేటున్న గోదాంలో ఆ గోనెసంచులు బాగు చేసే వ్యాపారం చేస్తారు సంతోష్, భాస్కర్ అనే ఇద్దరు పార్టనర్లు. గురువారం పొద్దుట ఒక కష్టమర్ కి సరుకు అందించడం కోసం ఒక ఆటోను తమ గొడౌన్ కి పంపారు పార్టనర్ భాస్కర్. అడ్రస్ చెప్పి అక్కడ మా వాళ్లు రిసీవ్ చేసుకుంటారని చెప్పాడు. ఆటో డ్రైవర్ అక్కడకు వెళ్లి చూశాడు. ఎవరూ రాలేదు. లోపలకి వెళ్లి పిలిచాడు. ప్చ్.. ఎవరూ లేరు. అక్కడంతా మరోసారి చూసి ఎవరూ రాకపోవడంతో ఆ యజమానికి ఫోన్ చేసి తిరిగి వెనక్కు వెళ్లిపోయాడు. ఆటో డ్రైవర్ మాటలు విన్న భాస్కర్ ఫోన్ పెట్టేసి అక్కడే కాపురం ఉంటోన్న తన ఉద్యోగి మక్సూద్ కి ఫోన్ చేశాడు. స్విచాఫ్ వచ్చింది. దీంతో బండి స్టార్ట్ చేసాడు. నిజానికి అక్కడ మామూలుగా అయితే ఎవరూ కాపురం ఉండరు. కేవలం పగలు పనిచేసి వెళ్లిపోతారు. లాక్ డౌన్ వచ్చాక మొదట్లో పది రోజులు కూడా ఎవరూ ఉండేవారు కాదు. కానీ లాక్‌డౌన్ మొదలైన పదిరోజులకు అక్కడ కాపురం పెట్టాడు మక్సూద్.

మక్సూద్, అతని భార్య ఎప్పుడో ఇరవైయేళ్ల కిందటే బెంగాల్ నుంచి పనికోసం వరంగల్ వచ్చారు. ఆరు నెలల క్రితం ఈ కార్ఖానాలో పనిలో చేరారు. లాక్ డౌన్ సమయంలో రాకపోకలు లేకపోవడంతో గోదాంకి వెళ్లే అవకాశం లేదు. దీంతో ఓ పది రోజులు గడిపేశాడు. ఇంకా ఇలానే ఉంటే ఇల్లు గడవడం కష్టం అనుకున్నాడు. యజమానికి ఫోన్ చేసి తాము గోదాం దగ్గర ఉన్న గదుల్లోకి మారిపోతామనీ, దాంతో లాక్ డౌన్ వల్ల రవాణా ఇబ్బంది ఉండదనీ, అదే సమయంలో పని కూడా చేసుకుని ఎంతో కొంత సంపాదించుకోవచ్చనీ చెప్పాడు. దీనికి అంగీకరించాడు యజమాని. లాక్ డౌన్ మధ్యలోనే కుటుంబంతో సహా అక్కడకు వచ్చేశాడు. మక్సూద్, అతని భార్యా అక్కడే పనిచేస్తారు. వాళ్లకు ముగ్గురు పిల్లలు. అబ్బాయిలు ఇద్దరు, ఒకమ్మాయి. అమ్మాయికి పెళ్లి అయి చిన్న బాబు ఉన్నాడు. భర్తతో విడిపోయి పుట్టింట్లోనే ఉంటోంది. అదే క్యాంపస్ లో మరో చివర ఒక చిన్న డాబాపై ఇద్దరు బిహారీ కుర్రాళ్లు ఉంటున్నారు. వాళ్లు కూడా పనిలో చేరి 25 రోజులే అయింది. లాక్ డౌన్ మధ్యలోనే అక్కడ పనిలో చేరారన్నాడు యజమాని. వాళ్లు ఉండేదీ అక్కడే. ఈ మక్సూద్ ఉండే ఇంటికీ, బిహారీ కుర్రాళ్లుండే ఇంటికీ మధ్యలో ఖాళీ స్థలం, గోదాం ఉంటుంది. గోడకి ఆ చివర వాళ్లు, ఈ చివర వీళ్లు.

పార్టనర్ భాస్కర్ బండి తిన్నగా, గతంలో, అంటే లాక్ డౌన్ కి ముందు మక్సూద్ ఉండే ఇంటివైపు వెళ్లింది. రంజాన్ పండుగ దగ్గర పడుతోంది కాబట్టి సొంతింటికి వెళ్లి ఉండొచ్చనుకుని నేరుగా అటెళ్లాడు అతను. అక్కడ ఆరా తీస్తే రాలేదని చెప్పారు చుట్టుపక్కల వాళ్లు. దీంతో నేరుగా తన గోదాం దగ్గరకే బయల్దేరాడు పార్టనర్ భాస్కర్. ఈలోపు ఫోన్ చేసి తన పార్టనర్ కి కూడా విషయం చెప్పాడు. గోదాం దగ్గర ఎవరూ లేరని వివరించాడు. అంతకుముందు ,బుధవారం సాయంత్రం ఐదున్నరకు వాళ్లు పనికి సంబంధించిన రికార్డులు రాసుకుని వెళ్లిపోయారు యజమానులు. ఆ తరువాత వాళ్లు గోదాం వైపు వెళ్లలేదు. వాళ్లు వెళ్లాక, అంటే బుధవారం రాత్రి ఆ గోదాం దగ్గర మక్సూద్ ఇంట్లో పుట్టిన రోజు వేడుకలు జరిగాయి. వేడుకలంటే పెద్ద పార్టీ కాదు. చిన్నగా జరుపుకొన్నారు. ఇది యజమానులకు తెలియదు. గురువారం భాస్కర్ గోదాం దగ్గరకు చేరుకున్నారు. బయట చూస్తే అందరి చెప్పులూ అక్కడే ఉన్నాయి. ఉతికి, నీళ్లు పిండి ఆరేయడానికి సిద్ధంగా ఉంచిన బట్టలు అక్కడే ఉన్నాయి. భోజనాలు చేసిన పళ్లాలు కనిపిస్తున్నాయి. కానీ మనుషుల్లేరు. కాస్త ముందుకు వెళ్లి, బిహారీ కార్మికులు శ్రీరాం, శ్యాంలు ఉన్న గదులు చూశారు. అక్కడా ఎవరూ లేరు. చాలాసేపు వెతికారు. ఎవరూ కనపడలేదు. తరువాత మరో పార్టనర్ సంతోష్ వచ్చారు. వెతికారు. లాభం లేదు. దీంతో అనుమానం పెరిగి గీసుకొండ పోలీసులకు ఫిర్యాదు చేశారు.

తిరిగి మధ్యాహ్నం ఒంటి గంటకు మళ్లీ వెళ్లారు. సెక్యూరిటీ లేదు కాబట్టి కొన్ని తాళాలు వేసుకోవాలని బయల్దేరారు సంతోష్. మెయిన్ కీ ఒకటి తన షాపులో ఉంటుంది. షాపుకు వెళ్లి తాళం చెవి తీసుకుని వెనక్కు గోదాం దగ్గరకు వచ్చి, షటర్ ఓపెన్ చేసి, అందులోని డ్రాలో ఉన్న మిగిలిన షటర్ల తాళాలు తీసుకుని అన్నీ ఒక్కొక్కటీ చెక్ చేస్తూ తాళాలు వేస్తున్నారు. కింద ఉన్న అన్ని గదుల తాళాలూ వేసేశారు. కాంపౌండ్ వెనుకవైపు చివర డాబా మీద బిహారీ కార్మికులున్న గదుల తాళాలు మాత్రం వేయాల్సి ఉంది. ఆ బిల్డింగు పక్కనే, ఆనుకునే ఒక చిన్న ప్రహరీగోడ, అవతల ఒక కొద్దిగా దున్నిన నేల, దాని పక్కనే కంప చెట్లు పెరిగిన ఖాళీ స్థలం ఉంటాయి. కంప చెట్లున్న స్థలంలోనే, ఓమూలగా పక్కనున్న మెట్ట పొలం, గోదాం ఉన్న స్థలం.. ఈ మూడు స్థలాల సరిహద్దుల్లో వచ్చేలా ఒక పెద్ద, లోతైన బావి ఉంది. ఆ డాబా మెట్లెక్కుతున్నా, పైన బాల్కనీలో ఉన్నా ఇదంతా స్పష్టంగా కనిపిస్తుంది.

మిట్ట మధ్యాహ్నం.. చుట్టూ ఏ అలకిడీ లేదు. భవనానికి ఎదురుగా వేపచెట్టు మాత్రం ఉంది. కింది ఖాళీగా ఉన్న మెషీన్లు వాటి దగ్గర కొద్దిపాటి గోనెసంచె తయారీ సామగ్రి ఉన్నాయి. ఇవన్నీ చూసుకుంటూ బిహారీలుండే గది తాళం వేయడానికి వెళ్తూ, మెట్లెక్కుతూ యథాలాపంగా పక్కకు చూశాడు సంతోష్. అంతే.. ఒక్క క్షణం షాక్.. చెమటలు పట్టాయి.. గబగబా వెనక్కు తిరిగి మెట్లు దిగి కిందే కూర్చుండిపోయాడు రెండు నిమిషాలు.. తేరుకున్న వెంటనే తన పార్టనర్ కీ, తన దగ్గర పనిచేసే ఇతరలకూ ఫోన్ చేశాడు. వాళ్లు వెంటనే వచ్చారు. ఎవరికీ నోట మాట లేదు.. ఆ బావిలో మూడు శవాలు తేలుతున్నాయి. పోలీసులకూ చెప్పారు. వాళ్లొచ్చారు.

ఇంక అంతా హడావుడి. సాయంత్రానికి మరో శవం తేలింది మొత్తం నాలుగు శరీరాలు.. వలస కార్మికుల మృతి అంటూ వార్త గుప్పుమంది. అక్కడుండే వాళ్ల నుంచి చనిపోయిన వారి లెక్క తీసేయగా, ఇంకా నలుగురు మిస్సింగ్.. వాళ్ల గురించి ఆరా తీస్తున్నారు పోలీసులు. పోలీసులు చేయాల్సిన ఫార్మాలిటీస్ నడుస్తున్నాయి. రాత్రి పొద్దుపోయింది. తెల్లారి శుక్రవారం మరో శవం తేలింది. డౌటొచ్చిన పోలీసులు మొత్తం బావిలోని నీరంతా తోడడం మొదలెట్టారు. నీరు తగ్గే కొద్దీ టెన్షన్.. ఎవరూ ఊహించనది జరిగింది. మరో నాలుగు శవాలు.. చిన్నపిల్లాడితో కలపి మొత్తం 9. పరారీలో ఉన్నారనుకున్న వాళ్లూ శవాలుగా తేలారు. మక్సూద్ ఆలం, అతని భార్య నిషా, కూతురు బుష్రా, ఆమె కుమారుడు, మక్సూద్ కుమారులు షాబాద్ ఆలం, సొహైయిల్ ఆలం, బిహారీ కార్మికులు శ్రీరాం, శ్యాం. వీరంతా అక్కడుండేవారే. కానీ మరో శరీరం కూడా ఉంది! ఎవరిదా శరీరం? అంతా కలకలం.. గందరగోళం.. ఏం జరిగిందో? ఎలా జరిగిందో? ఎందుకు జరిగిందో తెలియదు. పోలీసులు ఒక అంచనాకు రాలేకపోతున్నారు. అక్కడ పనిచేసే మక్సూద్ కుటుంబంలో చిన్నపిల్లాడితో కలపి ఆరుగురు. బిహారీలు ఇద్దరు. మొత్తం ఎనిమిది. కానీ తొమ్మిదో శరీరం ఎవరిది. పరిశోధించగా తేలింది. ఆ తొమ్మితో మృతుడు ఈ మక్సూద్ కి పరిచయం ఉన్న మరో కార్మికుడు షకీల్. త్రిపుర రాష్ట్రం అగర్తల నుంచి వరంగల్ చేరి మెషీన్ పని చేసుకుంటున్నాడు. క్లూస్ టీం వచ్చింది. ఒకసారి కాదు. నాలుగుసార్లు వచ్చారు. ప్రతీదీ క్షుణ్ణంగా వెతుకుతున్నారు. పరిశీలిస్తున్నారు. కొన్ని వస్తువులను స్వాధీనం చేసుకున్నారు. ఇంటిలోనూ, బయటక కాంపౌండ్ లోనూ వెతికారు. ఉపయోగం లేదు.

చుట్టు పక్కల జనం గుంపులుగా వస్తున్నారు. ఆ స్థలాన్నీ, ముఖ్యంగా బావినీ చూస్తున్నారు. తలో మాటా అనుకుంటూ వెళ్తున్నారు. బావిలోకి దిగి వస్తువులు వెతికే వారి కోసం వెతుకుతున్నారు పోలీసులు. అంత లోతుకు దిగే వారు దొరకడం లేదు. ఎలాగోలా సాధించారు. శుక్రవారం అర్థరాత్రికి పోస్టుమార్టం పూర్తయింది. పోస్టుమార్టం అయిన వెంటనే మృతదేహాలు ఇచ్చేసి అంత్యక్రియలు చేయించాలనుకున్నారు. కానీ ఎందుకైనా మంచిదని కేసు చిక్కుముడి తేలే వరకూ ఆగారు. పోస్టు మార్టానికి ముందే ఆ మృతదేహాలను మంత్రులు యర్రబెల్లి దయాకర రావు, సత్యవతి రాథోర్, కలెక్టర్ ఇతర నాయకులు అధికారులు పరిశీలించారు. మృతదేహాలను పంపించడానికి సహాయం చేస్తామని తెలిపారు. సత్యవతి రాథోర్ వ్యక్తిగతంగా బాధితులకు లక్ష రూపాయలు, ఎమ్మెల్యేలు వినయ్ భాస్కర్, నరేందర్ లు చెరో 50 వేల చొప్పున సాయం ప్రకటించారు. కానీ సాయం తీసుకునేవారేరీ? కేవలం త్రిపుర కార్మికుడు షకీల్ భార్యా, పిల్లలు మాత్రమే అక్కడ ఉన్నారు. మిగతా వారి బంధువులెవరూ ఇక్కడ లేరు.

ఆమెకు హిందీ రాదు. త్రిపుర యాసలో మాట్లాడే బెంగాలీతో ఆమె నుంచి సమాచారం రాబట్టే ప్రయత్నం చేశారు పోలీసులు. కలకత్తాలో ఉన్నప్పుడు బడికి వెళ్లి, వరంగల్ వచ్చాక చదువు మానేసిన ఆమె పదేళ్ల కూతురు మాత్రం హిందీ కొద్దిగా మాట్లాడుతోంది. మధ్య మధ్యలో ఆమె చిన్న తమ్ముడు తండ్రి గురించి ఏదో చెబుతున్నాడు. వారి మాటలను బట్టి షకీల్ అప్పుడప్పుడు మద్యం తాగేవాడని మాత్రం తెలుస్తోంది. నిజంగానే పోలీసులకు ఈ కేసు ఒక చిక్కుముడిలా ఉంది. కాస్త అనుభవం ఉన్న పోలీసులు ఎవరైనా జరిగిన ఘటన, అక్కడి దృశ్యాలూ చూసి ఏం జరిగిందో ఒక అంచనాకు వచ్చేయగలరు.. అదే మాట అడిగాం గీసుకొండ సీఐ శివరామయ్య గారిని.. ''నాకే కాదు, మా సీనియర్ ఆఫీసర్లకు కూడా ఇది ఒక మిస్టరీగానే ఉంది. ఇన్నాళ్లలో ఎన్నో చూశాం. సీన్ చూడగానే చెప్తాం, ఎలా జరిగిందా అని.. కానీ ఇది భిన్నంగా అనిపిస్తోంది. తొందరగా నిర్ణయం తీసుకునేది కాదు. శాస్త్రీయ ఆధారం, సాంకేతిక ఆధారం చూడాలి.'' అన్నారు.

వాళ్ల కుటుంబంలో గొడవలేమన్నా ఉన్నాయా అని అడిగాం పార్టనర్ సంతోష్ ని. ''మంచి ఫామిలీ మనస్పర్థలు ఉన్నట్టు తెలియవు. అటు బిహార్ వాళ్లతో కూడా సమస్య లేదు. బయటి వారితో గొడవులన్నాయా అన్నది నాకు తెలియదు. ఇక మక్సూద్ పిల్లలతో పెద్ద పరిచయం లేదు. త్రిపుర కార్మికుడనైతే నేనెప్పుడూ చూడలేదు. మక్సూద్ వాళ్లకి డబ్బు సమస్య కూడా లేదు. భార్యాభర్తలిద్దరూ కలపి 700-800 సంపాదిస్తారు. అవసరమైతే ఎడ్వాన్స్ తీసుకునేవారు.'' అన్నారతను.

తెల్లారింది. శనివారం. కేసు దేశవ్యాప్తంగా సంచలనం సృష్టించింది. దీంతో కేంద్ర, రాష్ట్ర ప్రభుత్వాలకు చెందిన పోలీసు, నిఘా వర్గాలు సంఘటనా స్థలాన్ని పరిశీలించాయి. విషయాలను ఆరా తీసాయి. నిందితులు, వారి రాష్ట్రాలూ, నేపథ్యాలూ, ఘటన జరిగిన విధానమూ.. అంతా అనుమానాల్నీ, గందరగోళాన్నీ పెంచుతోంది. అందుకే ఇంత శ్రద్ధ కేసుపై. స్నేహాలు, గొడవలు, ప్రేమలు, విడిపోయిన వివాహ బంధం, డబ్బు.. ఇలా ఎవరికి తోచిన కారణం వారు విశ్లేషిస్తున్నారు. ఆ కుటుంబంతోనూ, ఆ కుటుంబంలోని వ్యక్తులతోనూ పరిచయం ఉన్న అందర్నీ ప్రశ్నిస్తున్నారు పోలీసులు. ఫోన్లు కేసులో కీలక ఆధారాలయ్యాయి. ఆ కోణంలోనూ పరిశోధన సాగుతోంది. పోస్టు మార్టం చేసిన డాక్టర్ రజా మాలిక్ ఖాన్ కాకతీయ మెడికల్ కాలేజీలో ఫోరెన్సిక్ నిపుణులు. మృతదేహాల్లో విషం ఉందనీ, చిన్న గాట్లూ ఉన్నాయని మీడియాతో చెప్పారు. ప్రస్తుతానికి కేసు విచారణలో ఉందని చెబుతున్నారు వరంగల్ పోలీసులు.

బుధవారం పుట్టిన రోజు జరిగింది మక్సూద్ పెద్ద కొడుకు షాబాద్ ది. వరంగల్లో ఆరు నుంచి పదో తరగతి వరకూ షాబాద్ తో కలసి చదువుకున్న అతని స్నేహితులు ఎంజిఎం మార్చురీ దగ్గరకు వచ్చారు. ఎంతో డీసెంటుగా ఉండేవాడంటూ తమ స్నేహితుణ్ణి గుర్తు చేసుకున్నారు. షాబాద్ ములుగు దగ్గర ఐటిఐ చదువుతున్నాడు. బుధవారం నాడు ఈ మిత్రుల్లో కొందరు షాబాద్ కి ''హ్యాపీ బర్త్ డే'' మెసేజ్ చేశారు. అతను రిప్లై ఇచ్చాడు. ''థ్యాంక్స్'' అని.
